WP6: Salmon welfare, behaviour and physiology in waves, and attraction of fish for sampling and harvest
WP leader: Frode Oppedal
Institute of Marine Research
Objectives
Provide new insight into key aspects of biosecurity and fish welfare in offshore farming and identify main drivers of fish health and survival.
Expected outcome
Analysis of behaviour and welfare during high wave conditions at NRS site Fellesholmen.
Build tank-based instrumentation to be used to create wave-like conditions such as fluctuating currents, turbulence, density variations and explore how these high wave characteristic conditions affect behaviour and physiology.
Build knowledge on luring fish to swim through smaller openings into smaller cage structures for later sampling or harvest.
